14,200 HOMES NEEDED
Celebrate Christmas with Coles Aussie Cooked Black Tiger Prawns, responsibly sourced from farmers like Pacific Reef Fisheries.
THE true magnitude of Tasmania’s housing crisis has been revealed by a report that says 14,200 new social housing dwellings will be required over the next 20 years.
The University of Tasmania report also found the lag growing between new housing approvals and building, and shortstay accommodation laws were yet to have a positive impact.
“We want to keep producing sustainable seafood now and into the future.” – Maria Mitris-Honos, Pacific Reef Fisheries, proudly supplying Coles
Prawns are an essential part of an Aussie Christmas celebration and Coles Australian Cooked Black Tiger Prawns are a top pick for your festive table. Not only do they taste delicious, but – like all Coles Brand seafood – they’re also 100% responsibly sourced. One supplier of these great-tasting prawns is Pacific Reef Fisheries in northern Queensland. The Mitris family started the business in 1998 with 23 hectares of prawn ponds. Since then, the farm has grown to 100 hectares and produces more than 1000 tonnes of black tiger prawns for Coles each year. A BIGGER CHRISTMAS HARVEST The Mitris family has expanded their business to include a new prawn farm at Guthalungra. With financial support from the Coles Nurture Fund, the family has also been able to invest in an innovative new nursery system at the farm at Ayr.These changes have helped to boost productivity, create new jobs and increase both the quantity and the size of the Australian Black Tiger prawns in the Christmas harvest. Coles is proud to work alongside the Mitris family and Pacific Reef Fisheries and would like to thank them or providing Coles with their delicious Australian Black Tiger prawns.
