Air ticket anger

WHY is the cost of changing the name on an airline ticket so expensive? An hour of me waiting on the phone and a few minutes work for the call centre operator. Delete details of one person and add another. Original ticket cost $88. Cost to change passenger details $348. Surely this is stealing?
