Simmons lifts 76ers
A BEN Simmons tripledouble has guided Philadelphia to a 110-103 NBA win over Los Angeles Clippers yesterday.
The Australian superstar was joint top scorer for the 76ers, finishing with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Joel Embiid also scored 26 points while Tobias Harris added 17 points and 12 boards for Philadelphia, who improved the league’s best home record to an imposing 25-2.
Josh Richardson scored 17 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers with 30 points while Landry Shamet scored 19 off the bench against his former team.
Simmons’ sixth tripledouble of the season and second in as many games came as the Sixers made it three wins in a row.
Philadelphia goes into the All-Star break at 33-21, good enough for fifth place in the Eastern Conference, though they will be aiming to lock down an all-important top-four place.
