Slick Warriors march on

THE Olympia Warriors put the NPL TAS on notice with their third win from as many games in the Summer Cup.

South Hobart fell victim to the Warriors last night in a comfortable 3-2 victory that saw Englishman Jack Ryan score twice.

A trio of former South Hobart men lined up for the Warriors with Adam Gorrie, Loic Feral and Ben Hamlett having all joined the Eastern shore club in the off-season.

Ryan caused the headaches for South Hobart however, scoring his first in the opening five minutes thanks to a South Hobart mistake.

Ewan Larby gifted the ball to Ryan with a misplaced backpass that had the Warriors’ striker one-on-one with American Chase Webert in the South Hobart goal.

Ryan capitalised on the opportunity with a well-taken shot to give the home-side the lead. South Hobart gained control of the match in the half an hour that followed and were rewarded with a penalty after Jackson Khasif was adjudged to have fouled Samuel Berezansky.

Kobe Kemp equalised with the resulting spot kick to make it level going into half-time.

South Hobart could not escape their pre-season struggles in the second half as Khasif created the game’s third goal, making up for his earlier mistake.

He found Ryan in the box who hit a volley on the turn to make it 2-1 and restore the Warriors’ lead.

A fourth goal came in the 76 th minute as substitute Joffrey N’Koso found himself alone in his attacking half.

N’Koso rounded the goalkeeper and scored into an empty net.

A frantic final 10 minutes saw two missed penalties from the Warriors only for South Hobart to pull a goal back through Sam Tooze.

It would prove to be a consolation however as the fulltime whistle came soon after.
