Local gallery Betts on future

- ANNIE MCCANN

JACK Bett says his gallery will continue embracing new online opportunities well after the return to regular opening hours.

Despite the pandemic presenting a tough time for artists, Mr Bett said the Bett Gallery was thriving with its foray into virtual walkthroughs, documentaries, revitalised social media content and podcasts.

“[People are] searching out new ways to stay inspired,” he said. “They’re trying to seek happiness and art is a really perfect vehicle.”

In-depth interviews offered local and interstate customers a personal insight into artists’ practices and ideas, he said.

The next podcast would feature Bruny Island painter Caroline Rannersberger, whose exhibition Prelude to Arcadia is at Bett Gallery, with an interview featuring cabinetry maker Ingo Kleinert in the works.
