Climbing Lindisfarne bracing for form test

- ADAM SMITH

LINDISFARNE’S revival faces a stern test on Saturday when the Two Blues head to Huonville for a replay of last year’s SFL grand final.

The reigning premiers put themselves under the pump in dropping their opening two matches, but have squared the ledger since their Round 3 bye.

However, the back-toback victories have come against the competition’s two winless sides in Sorell and

Cygnet.

The second-placed Lions (4-1), who handed Cygnet its first defeat last weekend, are set to pose a bigger threat as Lindisfarne coach Michael Cassidy declared his outfit must keep winning to avoid the possibility of missing finals after dual premiership success.

“It’s good to get a bit of continuity into the side and finally we’re getting back to playing somewhere near our best footy,” Cassidy said.

“Sorell, we looked at their couple of weeks prior to us and they were pretty competitive, we didn’t take them lightly and it was good the boys came out and did what we needed to do.

“As soon as that game finished we put our focus towards Huonville. I think they are definitely the inform team of the competition at the moment.

“We look forward to going down there and having a good crack at them.”

While Cassidy believes the

Lions will be eager to reverse they result from last year’s grand final — where a 14point margin at three-quarter time blew out to 65 at the final siren — counterpart Tim Lamprill insists his men have moved on.

Lamprill is also on alert for a Lindisfarne side with plenty of room for improvement left in the tank.

“We dealt with that at the end of the year, there is nothing we can do about it expect to learn from it and execute things a little bit better than that day,” he said of the grand final fade out.

“They haven’t started that well but their best is good enough to beat anyone, they haven’t been at their best yet and it’s probably Son its way.”

Round 6 will give the ladder a shake up, with unbeaten leader New Norfolk hosting third-placed Cygnet, while Hobart (fourth, 3-2) heads to Pontville to meet Brighton (seventh, 2-2).

Sorell or Claremont will open their account at Pembroke Park.
