Weideman, Brown to miss for Demons

- • MARC McGOWAN

UNBEATEN Melbourne will face premier Richmond without Sam Weideman or Ben Brown for Saturday night’s Anzac eve MCG blockbuster.

Coach Simon Goodwin said midweek only one of the key forwards would be a chance to play but he’s opted for neither — while regaining important duo Steven May and Bayley Fritsch from injury.

The match with Damien Hardwick’s men offers the Demons a chance to add serious legitimacy to their 5-0 record, as well as honour Nathan Jones in his 300th appearance.

The Tigers will field an unchanged line-up in Dustin Martin’s 250th game after roaring back to form with an 86-point caning of St Kilda following two straight losses.

Boom recruit Jeremy Cameron will finally make his debut for Geelong against West Coast after two pre-season hamstring setbacks.

Mark O’Connor is the Cats’ other addition, helping offset superstar Patrick Dangerfield going out after ankle surgery that will sideline him indefinitely.

The Eagles will miss spearhead Josh Kennedy (ankle complaint). Liam Stocker’s 38possession explosion in the VFL last week has earned him his first senior match for Carlton in almost two years. Paddy Dow was dropped after being named medical sub last week.

Stocker joins David Cuningham in breaking into the Blues’ line-up to take on a Brisbane side that won’t feature the Berry brothers, with Jarrod injured and Tom dropped.

Deven Robertson returns for the Lions.
