TATTOO ARTIST DRAWS MOST PRAISE

- JARROD LAWLER

IT TAKES a lot of faith to trust someone to put a permanent piece of artwork on your body.

For tattoo artist Casey Jones this trust is a humbling experience and a challenge that she thrives on.

Mrs Jones has been tattooing for nearly seven years and her realistic and colourful work has resulted in her being crowned the winner of the Mercury’s Tassie’s best tattoo artist competition.

The Mercury placed a call out to Tasmanians to nominate their favourite tattoo artist and Mrs Jones, who works from Titan Tattoos in Moonah, received multiple nominations from happy customers who have a permanent reminder of her skills.

Mrs Jones was thankful for the support.

“I am always incredibly grateful and humbled to have such a beautiful client base and very thankful for all the support from all my clients,” she said.

“We are lucky in Tasmania to have so many incredibly talented artists with a wide range of different and unique styles. I don’t believe there is a true way to measure who is ‘the best’ as it is impossible to compare these styles with each other and say that one is better over another. “

Mrs Jones received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Ballarat in 2010 and said her love for art led her down this career path.

“I love art and I’ve always wanted to work in a field where I could be involved in art in some way. I thought tattooing would be interesting and challenging as well as still allowing me to meet and connect with people.”
