YOUR CHANCE TO DIG DEEP FOR DIGGERS

- JUDY AUGUSTINE

LEGACY volunteers will be out in force in Hobart’s CBD and in shopping centres across the state’s south to raise money as part of the charity’s biggest yearly fundraiser.

The proceeds of Badge Week will go to advocacy, education and financial help for families of deceased war veterans.

“We hope (the public) will again turn out and look for our volunteers and donate,” Badge Week co-ordinator Kathryn Edwards said. “Every cent goes to our widows and their children in southern Tasmania.”

Readers of The Mercury will be able to donate by scanning a QR code in the paper.

“Covid restrictions and emphasis away from cash and coin makes us concerned because the public has always been so supportive of our cause,” Ms Edwards said.

“Besides getting the Legacy badge for their donation, other merchandise includes pens and the very popular bears.”

Tasmania JackJumpers’ Clint Steindl will launch the fundraiser with mascot Jack the Jackjumper.

Badge Week runs from August 30 to September 4.
