PARTY PURGE

-

SIMON Bevilacqua’s opinion piece (Talking Point, August 28) should be compulsory reading for members of the Labor Party. It’s too easy to forget how poisoned the Lennon Government was, and how it heralded the decline of the Labor Party in Tasmania.

If Jim Bacon was known internally as “the Emperor”, then Lennon is Nero to Bacon’s Augustus. It’s a mystery why the second worst Tasmanian Premier in modern history after Robin Gray still holds so much power in the Labor Party back rooms.

If there needs to be a purge, then it should start with Lennon.
