Youth to stand trial for murder

-

A SORELL teenager will stand trial in October over the alleged murder of a 51-year-old man.

On Monday, Braydon Eugene Kelleher faced the Supreme Court of Tasmania via video link after previously pleading not guilty to the murder of Adrian Walter Garcia on March 10.

Mr Kelleher initially pleaded not guilty to one count of grievous bodily harm after an alleged attack at St George’s Square, close to Sorell’s town centre. But the charge was upgraded to murder after Mr Garcia died at Royal Hobart Hospital in May from head injuries.

On Monday, Justice Helen Wood heard Mr Kelleher’s case would proceed to trial. He was remanded in custody to appear in court on October 11.
