Prebble power for Cup fav
CAULFIELD and Melbourne Cup favourite Incentivise made the perfect first impression on new jockey Brett Prebble at Monday’s Cranbourne trials.
Last Saturday’s Memsie Stakes-winning jockey only had a brief meet-and-greet with Incentivise, who stormed to the top of
Cups betting charts with amazing wins at his last four runs in Queensland.
Incentivise is as short as $7 to win the Caulfield Cup and is an $11 chance in Melbourne Cup betting.
Trainer Peter Moody has had a few weeks to work with Incentivise since his transfer from the Steve Tregea stable. Prebble only got the call-up to ride the gelding last week.
The call came after Northern Territory police thwarted Glen Boss’ attempt to reach Melbourne via the Howard Springs quarantine facility in Darwin.
“He’s well worth going for,” Prebble said. “He’s a beautiful horse and he was there to have a look around and it was good to get familiarised with him.
“He oozes a bit of class, that’s for sure.”
Incentivise is likely to make his Melbourne debut over 1600m in Saturday week’s Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington.
