Is Premier Gutwein simply overloaded?

-

All Tasmanians must wish Premier Gutwein a speedy recovery, but the question must be asked – has he got too heavy a workload as both Premier and Treasurer?

In a public corporation the roles of the chief executive officer and chief financial officer are always held by separate people. This is for reasons of good governance as conflicts of interest arise. The Tasmanian cabinet should be enlarged to allow a greater spread of responsibilities and accountability. Perhaps we should follow the American example and have well credentialed non-parliamentarians sitting on the key governmental decision making body. In Britain the Prime Minister hasn’t been the Chancellor of the Exchequer since the 1920s.
