Footy fans crave for consistency
SO the AFL are considering challenging the Toby Greene penalty due to it’s leniency in weeks given after asking for a minimum of six weeks. As a passionate AFL advocate who has marvelled at how season 2021 has been presented to its fans through out I find their stance on this penalty staggering.
In round 6 the reigning Brownlow medallist forcibly grabbed an umpire’s arm to raise his attention to his bleeding and was subsequently fined $1500, a penalty a big number of fans thought petty considering what actually occurred.
Why did not the AFL appeal this penalty? After all it was forceful interference of an umpire with minimal aggression.
It is here we have a big discrepancy and in my honest opinion and having thousands agree it is purely an AFL driven stance because it is Tobias Greene.
The senior officiating umpire openly stated he did not feel threatened and thought the contact minimal. He in hindsight agreed it was not a good look and we all agreed, after all any contact with an umpire should never happen and they must be protected to the nth degree and the perpetrators given lengthy sentences.
Gil you deserve an eight out of 10 with what you have had to endure through out 2021. To get the perfect rating, fix the judiciary immediately in relation to penalties and refrain from alienating fans from all 18 clubs in relation to the inconsistencies.
