MAKE-A-WISH PUPPY BRINGS JOY TO FAMILY

- AMBER WILSON

IT TOOK five years for Georgia Lancaster to make a wish – which has now come to slobbering, shoechewing, adorable fruition.

The Moonah resident, who has cystic fibrosis, was 17 when she was promised a wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. But it took years before she knew how to spend that wish.

“I wasn’t sure what I wanted to wish for initially, but when I heard someone refer to it as a ‘living wish’, a puppy suddenly became the obvious choice,” Ms Lancaster said.

“He has quickly become part of the family, and everyone loves him – even though he chews everything in sight.”

This weekend, the now-22-yearold university student and her father Scott will sound the starting horn at a race event designed to raise money for the foundation.

Ms Lancaster’s new golden retriever Gillie will also be right by her side.

She said she hoped the Father’s Day Colour Splash would help raise funds to enable wish-granting for other children and young people with life-threatening illnesses.

She also said the colour splash was an ideal opportunity for young people to spend time with their dads.

The Make-A-Wish Father’s Day Colour Splash will be held at Dominic College this Sunday from 9:30am.
