Public transport joins Check in app

-

TASMANIANS travelling on public transport will now be required to use the Check in TAS app, with rules around the contact tracing tool changing this week.

Requirements to use the app expanded to include more locations from 12.01am on Friday, with Tasmanians aged 16 and over needing to check in when travelling on a bus or ferry. The new rules also include a requirement to check in at airports.

Health Minister Jeremy Rockliff said the app was a critical contact tracing tool that would be used in the event of Covid-19 cases occurring in the community.

People aged 16 or older are already required to use Check in TAS when entering most businesses and events.

Buses and ferries are not required to have alternative means of checking in.
