QUESTIONS REMAIN
GREENS Senator Peter WishWilson and David Killick have highlighted (Mercury, August 31) that the Senate Economic Reference Committee has extreme reservations about two Chinese and one Brazilian companies investing in Australia/Tasmania. Serious shortcomings were also identified in the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) processes.
This comes as little surprise to those opposed to Chinese Chambroad’s deal with the Clarence Council in Kangaroo Bay Bellerive.
They should also investigate how the Will Hodgman Liberal government managed to shift public crown land to Chinese ownership, through the State Coordinator General, John Perry, for a poorly thought through eyesore, with no community licence, destroying the ambience of a serene bay.
