Hill gets nod to replace Greene

- ALEX CONRAD

THE GWS Giants have locked in Toby Greene’s replacement for their semi-final against Geelong, with Giants coach Leon Cameron handing Bobby Hill a start.

Greene was suspended for three games for bumping into an umpire at three-quarter time during the Giants’ elimination final victory over the Sydney Swans.

Hill (pictured) made his debut in 2019 for the Giants against Richmond, and Cameron expects him to bring some added spark to the team as they aim for a spot in the preliminary final against Melbourne.

The Giants also named Conor Stone, who will make his fifth AFL appearance in the semi-final, in the starting lineup for the clash.

As for Geelong, Luke Dahlhaus and Sam Simpson have both been dropped, as Esava Ratugolea comes into the squad.

Veteran recruit Shaun Higgins, who crossed over from

North Melbourne for this season, was “managed” after starting as the medical substitute in last Friday night’s qualifying final loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

The Western Bulldogs take on the Brisbane Lions in the other semi-final, with the Bulldogs naming an unchanged team.

However, Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge confirmed veteran ruckman - and former Lion — Stefan Martin would not play again this season.

As for the Lions, they’ve lost Jaxon Prior and Daniel McStay, with the latter missing out through injury. Jack Payne and Deven Robertson will step up in their absence.
