YOU might have seen a flamingo in the sky on Sunday.

In fact, anyone looking up at Wrest Point Casino would have witnessed an array of oddities abseiling the 73m building – a cow, Superman, Wonder Woman and The Wiggles.

The unusual apparitions were part of an annual Father’s Day event aimed at raising funds for the Royal Hobart Hospital

Research Foundation. Up to 60 abseilers went over the top from Tasmania’s tallest building, raising $40,000 for medical research.

Foundation CEO Heather Francis said a number of wellknown ambassadors had raised money for it in the past, including last year’s abseil by actor Essie Davis.

“And this year is no exception, with the focus on two hardworking, genuine and committed ‘regular Tassie dads’ coming together to rally their communities behind the statewide fundraiser for the entire Tassie community, young and old,” she said, welcoming 2020 Tasmanian Australian of the Year Local Hero Tommy Windsor and TasDads cofounder Brennan Wilson.

The abseiling team from TasDads, a community advocacy and resource group for fathers, donned The Wiggles costumes as they made their way down the casino tower on Sunday.
