DEFENDING CLARENCE

CLARENCE Council is not dysfunctional. During Covid it was alone in continuing services, freezing rates and, unique among councils, retaining a balanced budget. Ensuring transparency, representing the community and keeping each other and staff accountable are legitimate functions of council. Mayor Chipman, unlike some, has the maturity to agree to disagree without manufacturing conflict where none exists and turning every issue into hyperbolic, attention-seeking warfare.
