PARKING MAD
I WRITE to express my disgust at the dire situation in North Hobart. Being a regular State Cinema patron and a friend of the Australian Italian Club, I have seen and experienced a busy hub for shopping, business and socialising degrade into a commercial graveyard.
Why is it that the pioneers of the restaurant scene are forced to stand by and watch their former flourishing bars and restaurants go into a decline not of their making?
Why should the entrepreneur newcomers suffer the same fate, some having to scrape by with a smattering of patrons, and the odd walk-in for an occasional coffee and cake or wine and cheese?
Simple: one word explains it all: Parking!
The meters are not user-friendly, particularly for someone with bad eyesight and the price of he meters is extortionate.
People will vote with their feet and go to Moonah or other places where parking is free and where there are reasonable time limits.
