CLAREMONT TO HOST STATE EVENTS
CLAREMONT Golf Club will host an event named in honour of Judy Elphinstone, a long-time board member of Women’s Golf North West and the state body, this weekend.
The 54-hole tournament will get under way on Sunday and the field will battle it out for the prestigious state title.
Favourite for the crown is twotime and defending champion Mackenzie Wilson, from Tasmania Golf Club.
Challenges are also expected from Launceston’s Jorjah Bailey and Devonport’s Lainie Thorn.
Claremont will also host the Tasmanian women’s senior, B and C grade amateur championships.
The 36-hole tournaments begin on Sunday and favourite for the senior crown is Royal Hobart member and Tasmanian golfing legend Lindy Goggin.
Challenges are expected from fellow club members Zibeth Daubenton, Sally Eastwood and Anne Medlycott.
The B and C grade amateur championships will tee off in conjunction with the senior event.
