Schools, driver first aid a must
MOST Australians believe first-aid training should be compulsory at high schools and also part of a driver’s licence application, a study has found.
The Australian Red Cross (ARC) study found 88 per cent of respondents wanted compulsory first-aid training for students and 70 per cent considered it a must when applying for a driver’s licence. The survey was conducted ahead of free first-aid training online.
It will be delivered on TikTok on Saturday by accredited ARC trainers who will demonstrate essential first-aid skills, including treating burns, broken bones, head injuries, strains and sprains, asthma attacks and severe allergic reactions. Participants will also learn vital skills in having to deal with life-threatening emergencies such as choking, heart attacks and swallowing harmful substances.
