WEBBERLEY HAS LEFT ROOS IN GREAT SHAPE: MARSHALL

-

CLARENCE’S Development League captain and future senior defender Tom Marshall says outgoing coach Jeromey Webberley has left a strong legacy at the club, as he prepares to lead the Roos in the D-League grand final against Launceston at UTas Stadium on Sunday.

Clarence’s senior side made it to the preliminary final but was felled by Launceston, while the club’s Colts and Development League teams both advanced to their respective grand finals.

Marshall attributes Clarence’s wide presence in the finals to Webberley’s diligence in developing the club’s future.

“’Jez’ has left the club in a great spot,” Marshall said.

“He has done a great job of development, there’s a great culture at the club, we’ve got some good young talent coming through, so we’re definitely on the right path.”

Launceston got the better of Clarence in the second semi-final and the Roos came into the showdown the long way.

“We were all over them in the first half, so we need a fourquarter effort in the grand final and it will go down to the wire,” Marshall said.

“There’s a good feeling in the group, everyone’s fired up and ready to go.”

Marshall will look to his key warriors like fellow-backman Harry Fisher to get the job done.
