MAEVE’S PAW-FECT PLAN TO HELP PETS

A GOLDEN retriever will be hosting a wine and woofs event in order to raise money for those sleeping rough.

Maeve the fundraising dog has already secured $80,000 for various pet charities, but this time she will be turning her attention to Pets in the Park Hobart.

The charity provides veterinary care to the pets of homeless people, providing everything from general check-ups, to desexing, to surgery and dental work.

Maeve’s owner Paul Williams will help run the fundraising event, which is on Sunday afternoon at the Wobbly Boot Vineyard at Campania.

Mr Williams said Wobbly Boot wanted to help homeless people by making sure their animal friends could remain healthy and happy.

“Pets in the Park are not that well known. They have been doing it for quite a long time, and it’s a super cause, so we wanted to help promote them,” Mr Williams said.

“Maeve puts on these events when she senses need out there for her kindred animals. We’ve tried raising money by ourselves, but we really can’t do it without her.”

Pets in the Park volunteer Deb Conley said the money raised would help them buy medicine and other supplies to keep animals healthy.

“That bond is very, very strong. We have had clients tell us their pet is what gives them a reason to get up in the morning,” Ms Conley said.

“The money raised on Sunday will help us keep their pets in good health.

“Paul and Lynda are so kind and generous.”

The event starts at 4pm with $10 tickets for adults, but free entry for kids and dogs who want to meet Maeve.
