National park grows

THE Mole Creek Karst National Park will expand by 2850ha, Parks Minister Jacquie Petrusma says.

The expansion will include Kubla Khan Cave in Solomons Dome. The land, which has been under a Future Potential Production Forest land classification, will be added to the National Park under a proposal yet to gain approval from the upper and lower houses.

Ms Petrusma said 22,550ha of FPPF-classified land in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area would be formally reserved as conservation area or regional reserve.
