Town underpass plan seems to bypass logic
THE plan for the Campbell Town underpass has been released, with work starting the middle of October. It will be on the corner of High and Bridge streets. The cost has blown out from $1.2m and could be as high as $8m.
Both Liberal and Labor promised the underpass if their party got into power. It seems that both were desperate to get into power without taking into consideration exactly what they were promising. The residents and visitors that need to get across High St to access shops on either side, have only got to walk up to the underpass, near the Recreation Ground to be able to get across the street. No problem! I agree the students and staff at the Campbell Town District High School need to have a safe crossing to access the pool and some sports facilities, surely there are alternatives that can achieve this. There is a lot of apprehension in the community as there has been no consultation. Surely in the last three years, there has been time to hold a public meeting? Please don’t insult me, by telling me, that there are no alternatives!
