Date set for murder trial

THE trial for a woman accused of the murder of her mother is expected to begin in the Supreme Court in Launceston next month.

Natalie Maher, 48, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Veronica Corstophine in South Launceston in October 2019.

Crown prosecutor John Ransom said the trial was expected to take the entirety of the October sittings.

A directions hearing will be held on October 4 before Justice Robert Pearce, with the trial expected to begin on October 12.
