HUON STORE A NOD TO LEGACY OF MOTHER

- JUDY AUGUSTINE judy.augustine@news.com.au

A NEW store in Huonville is combining a love of coffee and gift shops to create a new shopping experience in the Huon Valley.

Owner of Reba Sear, Edwina Kidd, said her new business sold homewares but was also a coffee shop.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, I’ve always had a love for design and homewares in particular,” Ms Kidd said.

“I brought my two loves together.

“It’s what I really like to do, drink coffee and look at nice things.”

Ms Kidd said there was nothing like Reba Sear in the Huon Valley.

“It’ll give locals more variety and hopefully attract tourists to the valley,” she said.

Ms Kidd said in her first few days, the name of her store had been a “hot topic”.

“My mum created the name, it’s the name she used for her jams and blankets, but she’s passed away now.

“So it’s a way to keep her legacy alive by using her brand name in my shop.”

Ms Kidd said Reba is an acronym for her and her siblings’ names.

“Reba is Rebecca, Edwina, Bronwyn Alexander,” Ms Kidd said.

“Sear is my grandma’s maiden name.”

Ms Kidd said she also hoped to host workshops at the store.
