- JACK EVANS

WINTRY weather is hanging around this week despite it being 21 days into spring.

Western Tasmanians, Central Highlanders and even Hobartians woke to low snow on Monday as Tasmania Police issued numerous road closures.

Highland Lakes Rd from Poatina to Miena and Marlborough Rd were cut off by snow and motorists were urged to take caution on a number of others roads.

Lake Dobson was open to 4WDs with chains and emergency services urged drivers on Lyell Highway, between Bronte and Derwent Bridge, to drive with caution.

Falls are expected to increase again on Thursday and Friday with 10mm expected in Hobart and falls of over 30mm forecast further towards the West Coast.

Snow below 500 metres is also forecast through the week on the West Coast, Central Highlands and in the South East Forecast districts.
