FAVOURITE MEG LANNING MOMENTS
I remember a catch she took on the ring at cover, against South Africa in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup in 2020. It was an absolute ripper, it was a classic catch, but epitomises Meg in that she’s just class. She’s a really, really good cricketer and really, really competitive, and that was one of those catches that needed to happen.

She’s just been a really consistent leader over a long period of time now. I think she takes the job really seriously, she’s really steady, and you get the same Meg in a lot of ways, and you couple that with her ferocious competitiveness as an individual and her will to always score runs, I think you get a really consistent leader.”

Her unbeaten 133 (from 63 balls) that she made in the 2019 Ashes series in a T20 game. It was an innings I’ve never witnessed. She was on song from the start, and as a batter that is the type of day you always dream of. She was phenomenal.

Meg and I do bat well together, that’s born from a lot of experience and we’ve played a lot of cricket alongside each other. Not only do we know each other’s games really well, we’ve got a healthy respect for each other too. I’m a massive fan of the game, so sometimes it’s just really nice to stand down the other end and just watch her bat.”

I just love how she’s never flustered. I’m quite a nervous player, especially in my first couple of years in the squad, I was a wreck at the top of my mark and I couldn’t think straight. Having Meg there, when she comes up to your mark to give you some instructions, or tells you what she wants, it’s always very to the point, but always calmly put.

It wasn’t something I strived for, and I certainly didn’t think I’d be any good at it. captaincy Meg Lanning on
