GORMLEY TAKES THE DIRECT ROUTE HOME

- JUDY AUGUSTIN

TASMANIAN actor Lisa Gormley will make her directing debut at the place where her career began 24 years ago, with her self-funded stage production of A View From The Bridge to be performed in Huonville next month.

Gormley is well known for her role as Bianca Scott on Home and Away.

“We’re bringing it to the Huon because that’s where I first started acting,” she said. “We’ve got this beautiful town hall, and they don’t get enough art down there.”

Gormley said the Huon Valley held a special place in her heart. “It’s really special – it feels like I’ve kind of come home,” she said.

“I started performing here when I was 12 and to come back and bring some of what I’ve learnt is really special.”

It is the first time Gormley has put together a full theatre production.

“A lot of the performers are my students who I’ve worked with over the years,” she said.

Gormley said the performance would adhere to Covid restrictions.

“We’ve kept house numbers small, it’s quite an intimate show,” she said.
