TROUBLE IN STORE IF SHOPPERS DON’T FEEL SAFE

BILLIONAIR­E retailer Solomon Lew has warned that consumers will stop visiting the nation’s leading shopping malls unless there is certainty around vaccinatio­ns and temperatur­e checks.

The businessma­n, whose Premier Investment­s owns a portfolio of retail chains such as Smiggle, Portmans and Just Jeans, warned shopping malls that they needed to listen to their retail tenants.

Mr Lew said shopping centre owners had an “absolute responsibi­lity” to ensure the safety of shoppers and store staff, and this would require health checks at the doors and a requiremen­t that anyone entering be vaccinated.
