FANS PREFER A DAY FINAL
FOOTY fans have voted overwhelmingly for the AFL grand final to be played in the day, despite the night-time Dees-Doggies match scoring the biggest TV audience in five years.
Seven Network reported an average national audience of 3.91 million viewers for Melbourne’s 74point crushing of the Western Bulldogs in Perth on Saturday.
Those numbers were up from 3.81 million for the Tigers v Cats decider, played as a night match in Brisbane last year.
However, according to an AFL Fans Association poll conducted on Saturday, 89 per cent of footy fans want the grand final moved back to its traditional afternoon slot.
