Tide turns right way for Brown

- SIMEON THOMAS-WILSON

IT’S no wonder Ben Brown says footy can change “like the tides”.

He was unwanted last year by the team that claimed the wooden spoon in 2021.

Now the former North Melbourne spearhead is a premiership player at the best team in the land.

The key forward kicked 60 goals three years running at the Kangaroos. He was on the cusp of a new deal at North Melbourne at the start of 2020 but then got injured and, at the end of the year, the Kangaroos put him up for trade.

“It is pretty unbelievable and pretty surreal,” he said of winning a premiership.

“If you said to me 12 months ago I would be here, I would have laughed at you. It is pretty unbelievable.

“I suppose footy changes like the tides at times, doesn’t it? It is pretty amazing to be here.

“The last 12 to 18 months have been a bit of a rollercoaster. I feel pretty thankful to be here.”
