Vet fraud case back in court

- AMBER WILSON

A SANDY Bay woman accused of almost 500 fraud charges, allegedly transferring hundreds of thousands of dollars from a vet clinic into accounts belonging to her and her husband, will soon enter a plea in the Supreme Court.

Rachel Naomi Perri, 48, previously pleaded not guilty to the charges in the Hobart Magistrates Court.

On Monday, judge Gregory Geason heard an indictment had yet to be filed with the court but that Ms Perri would likely proceed to plead in November.

The Mercury previously reported that Ms Perri was accused of transferring sums of money, ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, from Tasmanian Veterinary Services to accounts belonging to her and her husband. The company runs an animal hospital at Clarence Street, Bellerive.

Ms Perri, who previously pleaded not guilty to 497 counts of computer-related fraud and one count of using a computer with intent to defraud, will return to court on November 8.
