EVOCATIVE CHAMBER MUSIC SET TO ECHO THROUGH MONA

- DAMITA LAMONT

THE evocative sounds of chamber music will be set against the cavernous backdrop of Mona’s Nolan Gallery on Tuesday night.

The renowned Australian String Quartet have created a special, multisensory

evening that highlights the profound link between the performing and visual arts by staging the show in the gallery.

The music will feature both classics and new works, further tying in with Mona’s celebration of old and new artworks.

“Mozart is one of the most celebrated composers of all times and his music is still vibrant, youthful and brimming with energy,” first violinist Dale Barltrop said.

“Paul Stanhope’s music has a visceral energy, is evocative and captures that unique Australian spirit.

“Benjamin Britten is one of the greatest English composers of the 20th century and the piece we are playing is particularly epic and architecturally really amazing.”

The Australian String Quartet will perform from 7.30pm; for tickets, visit https://mona.net.au
