NW ROAD SAFETY

-

IN response to State Growth’s road safety initiative in reducing the speed limit on the 2.3km stretch of road between Chasm Creek and Heybridge, south of Burnie. Thank God common sense prevailed on this stretch of the Bass Highway.

Chasm Creek-Heybridge has had 33 crashes over the past five years. Turners Beach has had 27 and Leith has had four. Why build an overpass at Leith at a cost of $16 million to $20 million where there have only been four crashes in five years, and none in the past three. Why build an overpass at Leith that destroys people’s homes and puts them out on the street?
