Perfect incentive
TRAINER Peter Moody is continuing to cover all bases with exciting galloper Incentivise leading into Saturday’s Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington.
Incentivise made the perfect start to his time with the Moody camp with a determined win in the Group 1
Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 11. The Makybe Diva Stakes win cemented Incentivise’s grip on Caulfield and Melbourne Cup favouritism.
Moody said the Turnbull Stakes would be the perfect Caulfield Cup lead-up for Incentivise.
“The 2000 will be perfect for him at his second run this
time in and I couldn’t be happier with him,” Moody said.
“He’s done everything I’ve asked of him since the Makybe Diva Stakes.
“He’s ticking along well.” Moody galloped Incentivise at The Valley on Monday morning last week but took the son of Shamus Award to Caulfield for a proper hit-out over the course on Monday.
Incentivise is a certain Caulfield Cup starter but Moody has not ruled out a Cox Plate run for the gelding.
“I gave him a gallop at The Valley to give him a little trip away from home (at Pakenham),” Moody said.
“He’s now had a gallop at Caulfield so wherever we decide to go with him, he’s now had a bit of experience.”
Incentivise is one of 20 entries for Saturday’s Turnbull Stakes along with last year’s Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet, who finished third in the Makybe Diva Stakes.
Star mare Verry Elleegant is one of four entries from the Chris Waller stable. Makybe Diva Stakes runner-up Mo’unga is also among the Turnbull Stakes entries.
