Hobart leads Tas vax tally

HOBART has emerged as the state’s most vaccinated local government area in the latest update to federal vaccine statistics.

Figures show that as of Sunday night, 85.3 per cent of eligible Hobart residents have had their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and 67.7 per cent were fully vaccinated.

Kingboroug­h was in second place, with 84 per cent and 65 per cent; followed by Clarence on 81.5 per cent and 63.6 per cent.

Kentish council had the lowest figures for the state, with 60.3 per cent of people with first jabs, and 40.9 per cent full vaccinated.

Flinders, Glamorgan Spring Bay, King Island and the West Coast council areas were excluded from the figures.

Of the 414 councils nationwide for which figures were available, Victoria’s Queensclif­fe was the most vaccinated with 83.4 per cent of residents fully protected and more than 95 per cent having had their first jab.

Grant in South Australia was the worst – with figures of

18.9 per cent and 10.6 per cent.

Hobart came in at 25 on the national list, Kingboroug­h at 36 and Clarence at 45th nationwide.

Kentish was 347th.
