BREAST FRIENDS MEET FOR GIRLS’ NIGHT IN

- ROSEMARY MURPHY

SHE may be a national finalist for Miss World Australia, but Hobart’s Kimberley Odgers is more than happy to put aside the glamour to have a Girls’ Night In for a good cause.

Girls’ Night In is an initiative of the Cancer Council that runs throughout October.

Ms Odgers said she jumped at the opportunity to be an event ambassador.

“It’s a really great chance for women to not only get together and raise money for the Cancer Council, but to have that conversation with friends and family about health and being breast aware.”

Ms Odgers said after being asked to be an ambassador she immediately gathered a group of friends to have their own event.

In 2021 it is estimated that more than 20,000 women will be diagnosed with a breast or gynaecological cancer.

“We all have a mum or sister or teacher who has been impacted,” Ms Odgers said.

“I, myself, have members in my family and extended family who have breast cancer.”

Events are expected to be held across the country, ranging in size from groups as small as five up to as large as 50.

Those wanting to hold their own Girls’ Night In need to register on the Cancer Council website at cancer.org.au/tas
