CARS, FIREARMS SEIZED IN $160K POLICE BUST

GUNS, four-wheel-drive vehicles and an excavator were among the allegedly stolen items seized by Tasmania Police in a search of a property in the state’s North-East.

A 36-year-old man from the region is facing 11 charges after police located and seized stolen property valued about $160,000 at his rural property.

A search was carried out by police from Launceston on Tuesday at a property in the North-East where a 1.7 tonne excavator, a Nissan Navara, a Toyota HiLux and a Suzuki motorcycle were seized.

Police allege the machinery and vehicles were all stolen in separate incidents within the past month.

Six firearms were also uncovered, four which have been confirmed by police as being stolen.

Police are continuing inquiries in relation to other property seized during the search that is believed to be stolen.
