Work sites to reopen

-

VICTORIA’S construction industry is bracing to get back on the tools from Tuesday, and workers could again be free to put their feet up in a tea room.

Industry sources have said tea rooms are expected to be opened once again under strict new protocols that will see Covid-19 marshalls supervising sites.

Fully vaccinated workers would also be free to travel between regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne.

It is understood an announcement on the return to work is just days away, with industry insiders confident at least 25 per cent of workers will be back at work from Tuesday.

Danni Hunter, Victorian executive director of the Property Council of Australia, said she hoped further closures of the industry could be avoided.

“We have worked closely with industry groups and unions to advocate for a reopening of construction as quickly as possible including the reopening of crib rooms.”
