Adams said a number of the Tasmanian officers honoured on Police Remembrance Day she had worked with personally.

“Sergeant Rob Cooke was a friend to many of those within Tasmania Police and it has only been 12 months since his passing,” Ms Adams said.

“There will be a lot of people that will fondly remember his friendship and policing contribution.”

She said mental health was an important priority for police.

Five deaths dating back to the 19th century have also been added to the Tasmanian Police Memorial Baton.

Ms Adams said it was the first time they had been recognised for their contribution to policing.

“Some were involved in capturing convicts back in the day, others were involved in policing watch houses and being involved in responding to people on the water,” she said.
