A sanctuary from Taliban nightmare

-

IT appears the Taliban have not changed their Sharia law doctrine and repercussions will be devastating especially for women. A generation of young women and men born in a democratic system of government in the past 20 years will experience unimaginable terror.

Positive, intelligent young women who have been university educated and working in responsible roles who can no longer work, teach or hold meaningful roles and have no legal rights under the Taliban’s Sharia Law. We have seen the public executions with bodies hanging from cranes in public areas and the threats of further killing and amputations for any perceived transgression. We can’t begin to perceive the terror, fear and brutality the people of Afghanistan are now living with, and Australia must bear some responsibility.

We rushed into a military alliance with the US to invade

Women seriously oppressed. Afghanistan and after 20 years of conflict, including killing women and children, packed up and left the people to bear the consequences. We now have a responsibility to help by offering sanctuary to any and all seeking to escape the nightmare. Act now with no excuses.
