Statewide spring rain on radar

-

RAIN is predicted across the state this week, with the forecast described as “typical” for spring.

“It’s a very typical springtime week for Tasmania; the fronts will be coming across, but it’s not going to be overly cold,” Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Luke Johnston said.

“The end of last week we had a lot of rain about the east, which was nice after a fairly prolonged dry period.

“There will be periods this week where rain will extend statewide.”

Mr Johnston said bigger fronts were on the way for Tuesday and Thursday.

“They’ll bring rain statewide,” he said.

“There’ll be a little bit of wind this week, but it doesn’t look like it will require a severe weather warning at this stage.

“We might even see snowfalls down to 900m on Thursday and 700m on the weekend.”

The spring fire outlook, released in August, predicted a normal fire potential for Tasmania.

“Grassy fuel types have significant fuels from last season, which will bring forward the fire danger period for these fuels,” the report said.
