Bring Cartela back

-

HOW wonderful it would be to have the fine old ferry Cartela restored and steaming around our harbour? Built in 1912, the same year as Titanic, this wonderful wooden vessel served as a navy ship in World War I .She operated continuously in Tasmania until 2014 and carried thousands across the Derwent when the bridge went down. Surely restoring the Cartela would contribute to Tasmania’s marine history. Linking the present tourist world with the past Cartela would win the hearts of children, visitors and those who love our Derwent. So come on, join Mr Wilkie in the quest for Ships to Keep! Get the Cartela back on the river. Maybe we could persuade UTAS, Federal, Clive Palmer or Twiggy Forest to come on board?
