MERCEDES DELIVERS THE DISCO

- DAMITA LAMONT

A HOT pink 1973 Mercedes was unveiled as Wrest Point Casino’s TasBash entry this week, affectionately dubbed the Regines Roller in a nod to Hobart’s “most happening nightclub” of the era.

The 450SE model with its bold hue, casino-shaped rocket on top and psychedelic flair is the ideal showstopping ride for the 30th annual Variety Federal Group TasBash, which leaves Hobart on October 16 and concludes on October 21.

The Variety Tasmania event involves participants on a road trip across the state to explore towns and lesser-travelled back roads, while raising important funds to help Tasmanian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

“This year we have 15 teams embarking on the five-day TasBash journey, after spending the last 12 months raising money for Variety,” Variety Tasmania chief executive Mohammad Aldergham said.

“Along the way, our bashers visit children and schools who will receive funding from Variety.”

The convoy will start their journey from Parliament Lawns on October 16 at 10am.
