A FESTIVAL NOT TO BE MISSED

- JUDY AUGUSTINE

MISSY Higgins, Birds of Tokyo and Xavier Rudd are some of the big names who will feature at the second Summer Salt festival at the Hobart Botanical Gardens on February 6 next year.

Summer Salt promoter John Zaccaria said the last event had to be postponed because of the pandemic

“Originally it was February 25; the border was still shut so we ended up coming back in March to do it,” Mr Zaccaria said. “Capacity wasn’t impacted, it was more what they could and couldn’t do – there were restrictions on dancing at that point.”

Mr Zaccaria said the upcoming event had branched out on it’s lineup.

“It’s a big line-up, it expands wider this year,” he said.

“If there’s demand, hopefully we can get a second night away.”

Mr Zaccaria said the event was family-friendly.

“It’s definitely not a big rock show, it is aimed at younger families,” he said.

“The model we have is you bring a chair, you pick a spot for the day, it’s more of a picnic, rather than a festival.”

He said the event coincided with the release of a short film featuring a number of Australian artists.

Tickets will go on sale on Saturday.
