Airport’s emergency training

-

A TRAINING exercise will be held at Hobart Airport on Tuesday, in an effort to ensure airport staff and emergency services are prepared for anything.

Hobart Airport CEO Norris Carter said anyone who notices the increased activity should not be alarmed.

“The simulation will put our staff to the test and will also involve police, ambulance and fire crews,” Mr Carter said.

“It will look and sound like a real emergency but I can assure everyone that it’s not.”

The exercise will begin in the morning and run for several hours.

“These exercises are held every two years, to ensure we know what to do in the unlikely event of a real emergency,” Mr Carter said.

“It’s vital that we test our systems at the airport regularly to make sure we can respond quickly to any challenge.”

The training exercise will not affect scheduled flights.
